Musical Theater Today is a yearly print periodical dedicated to the extraordinary variety of artists, institutions, and audiences engaged in the musical theater world.

MTT’s inaugural issue was made possible entirely by the sweat equity of its editorial staff and contributors, and we are proud to have achieved the goal of implementing a profit sharing model to compensate all involved parties as of our sophomore volume. This financial independence affords our contributors and editors a unique degree of freedom in their pursuit of interviews, articles and work excerpts. By bringing as many different voices as possible into the same printed space, Musical Theater Today is both an archive of the form for posterity, as well as an ever-changing and ever-relevant response to the question, “What is musical theater?”

Volume 3 Launch Party at the Pershing Square Signature Center was an incredible success! Here, readers visited our book-signing table, which included contributors Michael R. Jackson, Stephen Brackett, Timothy Huang, Cara Loelle Reichel, and Peter Mills! Photo by Whitney Browne.
